Hello everyone,

What does the end of summer, the start of a new school season and hundreds of excited booster club members have in common? It means that the 2003/2004 hockey season is just around the corner.

We hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, time spent with family and friends and the occasional visit to the Ottawa 67s Booster Club website. We, the Executive, have spent the summer relaxing and preparing ourselves for what we are sure is going to be the best season yet for the Ottawa 67s Booster Club.

We have always believed in the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" motto and because of the overwhelming popularity of last season's membership choices we have decided once again to offer members the choice of three membership rewards. We did, however detour around the above mentioned motto, and picked three new options for your reward, they are as follows:

1) While we know that most people who come to see a 67s game spend more time standing up and cheering for our players, we do know that the time spent on our butts in the seats can take a toll on our backsides so this year we are offering a black seat cushion with the red 67s logo on it. It also has a convenient handle so you can carry it with you.

2) Your choice of either a black cap with a red peak or a red hat with a black peak with the 67s booster club logo on it.

3) If you are one of the many fans who take part in our bus trips you know that amidst all of the jokes, hockey talk and all around fun, sometimes you need some quiet time and that usually comes in the form of your cd player and your favourite cds. This year you can carry your cds in style with our round black cd holder with our logo on it in red. It holds 24 cds and is a must have for any serious hockey and music lover.

As in years previous we will have a table set up in Salon A of the Civic Centre during Season ticket pick up night, this year on Sept 29 at 5pm. If you can't make it to this event you may stop by one of our tables before and during the game at either Gate 4 or our new Gate 2 location (behind Section 21) and renew your membership to the Booster Club and take a look at the three options. We are sure you will have a hard time choosing just one of them.

While we know a lot of our members are also season ticket holders, we should clarify that you do not have to be a season ticket holder to join or renew your membership. The only requirement is that you are ready to have fun and support the players who fill our winter with excitement.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support last season and look forward to spending time with you all, either at the rink, at the banquets or on a bus trip.

If you ever have questions, concerns or just want to stop and talk please feel free to come to Gates 2 or 4 and talk to any of us. Our hockey team has bite, we don't!

If you want to reach us via email please send your comments, love, praise and all around adoration (that was a joke, not a plea, really) to 67sboosterclub@sprint.ca

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

The Easter Seals Celebrity Roast

On October 21, 2003, Jeff Hunt will be one of the celebrity guests that are taking part in the Easter Seals Celebrity Roast.

All proceeds of the Roast will go to support the good work of The Easter Seals Society, who provides support and equipment for disabled children in our community.

Today, more than 20,000 children and youth in Ontario live with a physical disability. For over 80 years Easter Seals has been committed to making a difference to these members of our community, by funding disability solutions through financial assistance, summer programs research, advocacy, and public and consumer education.

The Roast takes place at the Ottawa Civic Center.  The reception starts at 5:30pm and the dinner starts at 7:00pm.  The cost is $75.00 per person or $750.00 for a table of 8 (includes reserved signed seating).  Visit here also for the information.

If you are interested in attending the Jeff Hunt Roast on October 21, 2003, stop by the Booster Club table at gate 4 and sign up starting at the Exhibition games on September 5th and 12th and continuing at our Home Opener - October 3rd.

For further information, please contact Susan Dallin O'Grady at The Easter Seals Society by calling 226-3051, extension 228 or emailing at sdallin@easterseals.org
