CHAPTER TWO- September 23rd, 2003

The past week has not been one of the best.  We went on the road last weekend to Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury and let me say, we did not play very well at all.  We went in with the chance to get four points and came out with only one.   Unfortunately, I wasnt much help out there.  It was disappointing and frustrating for me because we didn't play well in either game.  I was playing near my hometown and all of my family was there to see me, but I just wasn't on my game.  I didn't score any goals and I didn't get any assists.  It was definitely a learning experience.

We managed a tie in the first game: three-three.  (Danny) Battochio got to play in nets in the second game.  He played well and his family was there to see him too; we lost 6 to 4.  It's always frustrating to loose but to travel so far and lose is annoying and then to loose in front of my family was even worse.  The bus trip is so long to the Soo, we mostly just played cards the entire way.

I did get in a bit of a scrap in the second game against Sudbury on the Sunday.  With all of the built up frustration, I hit a guy and then he decided to give me a bit of a nudge.  We said a few words to each other and then another Sudbury guy came in and pretty much jumped me.  We had a pretty good fight and the second guy ended up getting suspended because he was the third man in.

The whole weekend was not a total loss.  We all went to Albiani's cottage for a day on Saturday.  It was nice and relaxing.  We went tubing, swimming, did some fishing, made a fire, played horse shoes and his mom cooked us all supper.  We also played Botchi.  Locke and I where the champs at that!

When we got back the coach didn't make us practice on the following Monday, which is great, and it was back to normal on the Tuesday.  The no wins haven't really set any of the guys back at all, yet.

That's it for now.

CHAPTER ONE- September 9th, 2003

Another season has begun and I can definitely say that things have changed.  I worked out and trained all summer long and I can't wait to see if all of that work paid off; I'm so pumped for the new season!

When I walked into the dressing room, it was like a whole new place because of all of the new and extremely young faces.  One of the main things that I have noticed, is that all of the guys that are one year older then I am have really stepped up and have now become leaders.  I don't really see myself as a leader on the team yet.  The younger guys might think so, but personally I don't think that I am, yet.

Last season I had a lot of help from (Matthew) Albiani and I came here this summer much more confidant and comfortable.  He helped me by pointing out things that I was doing wrong and letting me know how I could fix them.  I'm not at that point where I can offer the same kind of advice to the rookies like Albiani did for me - but maybe next season.

The other thing that follows with hockey is school.  Most of the guys have a normal workload, but I have two classes each semester.  It's great because it lets me concentrate on hockey also.  Within the next few weeks the school is making me pick what I want to do later on, college or university.  This is the most stressful thing outside of needing to perform well this season.

That's it for now.  See you at the home-opener!
